Despite massive police brutality and state repression, Garment Workers in Bangalore organised a massive and successful movement against the recently notified amendments in the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Act. Thousands of garment workers, mostly women brought the city of Bangalore to a standstill and organised a militant movement unseen in recent history.
Many, including the corporate media called the workers movement as chaos and terror, but the movement has brought relief to millions of workers in the country who would have been adversely affected by the changes in EPF Act.
In these times of assault on labour right and corporate greed, we salute the garment workers of Bangalore!
